TODAY WAS THE FINAL TRAILER RELEASE FOR MAY 6’S “CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.” In the end, we shall all weep over this war:
The events of this upcoming film directly follow those of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and what sad, sad events they are… Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) having an all-out war with his buddy Iron-Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Each fellow Avenger (and some new ones…welcome, new Spidey and Black Panther) is forced to choose a side.
We have chosen Team Cap. Here is why:
EVERY CATASTROPHE THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED IN THE AVENGERS UNIVERSE IS… TONY STARK’S FAULT.
The cojones on Stark to try and correct his past sins with yet another solution from that poisonous mind of his…Well, let’s back up a minute… After the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Tony Stark has agreed to implement a proposal called the Sokovia Accords, which basically aims to register all powered people and list them and what they can do as if it were a superhero’s DMV. Smell that? That’s the powder residue from this plan blowing up in Tony’s face; Powered humans are not going to simply line up to be registered and branded as if they were cattle. The Sokovia Accords will start more fires than it will extinguish.
All this proposal will accomplish, in fact, is the threatening of the fabric of personal freedom in both America and all other countries, which is also Captain America’s main oppositional argument. After fighting so hard for the free world in World War II against a man who sought to bring it to its knees, Steve Rogers is not going to stand by while his friend tries to round up a group of individuals and label them like Hitler did to the Jews, gypsies, and homosexuals.
Why should Cap let this slide? Iron Man and Iron Man alone is the one who should be “checked” and answering for his war crimes. Let’s rack them up, shall we?
1. The Chitauri/Alien Attack on New York City: Iron Man’s fault. His big, shiny monument to his own ego (the clean energy-powered Stark tower) is what drew the villain Loki to use it as a power source for helping his alien army break through…right on top of midtown Manhattan. Sure, Tony had no idea it would bring a hostile alien force to his front door, but lest not forget that the building’s very reason for existing was for profit first and the good of the environment second.
THE SOKOVIA ACCORDS WILL START MORE FIRES THAN IT WILL EXTINGUISH.
2. Hydra infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D.: The sins of the father, as they say…This one may not have been Tony Stark’s fault, but it was the fault of A Stark. Tony takes after his father, Howard, the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., in every imaginable way: an extraordinarily gifted mechanical engineer, builder of weapons for profit, egomaniac, billionaire, and playboy. Because of his sheer ego and ambition, Howard Stark allowed a Nazi scientist, Arnim Zola, to defect to and help S.H.I.E.L.D. after the war, enabling Zola to re-sow the seeds of Hydra within the organization from the very beginning. Every life taken, including Howard’s, on behalf of Hydra’s infiltration, could be blamed on Tony’s papa.
THE COJONES ON STARK TO TRY AND CORRECT HIS PAST SINS WITH YET ANOTHER SOLUTION FROM THAT POISONOUS MIND OF HIS…
3. Sokovia: *Sigh* Tony, Tony, Tony… This is indubitably the most blatant crime Tony Stark has ever committed against humanity. He secretly created the A.I. program, Ultron, BEHIND the backs of the other Avengers as a preemptive defense shield. He knew there were moral repercussions to this decision and yet, he proceeded. Surprise: Ultron went rogue and decided the Earth could only be saved with zero humans left on it. It took a city floating in the sky and nearly dropping, causing a meteor-like extinction event, for Tony Stark to go and clean up the mess he created.
NOW STARK WANTS TO IMPLEMENT YET ANOTHER PREEMPTIVE PLAN TO PROTECT THE EARTH. DOES HE EVER LEARN?!
